Honored as a “Living Treasure” by her tribe, the Confederated Tribes of Siletz, and as a “Living Cultural Legend” by the Oregon Council of the Arts, Grandma Aggie is an exceptionally clear and strong speaker whose no-nonsense eloquence has touched people of many different cultures in the US and around the world. She is the oldest living member of her tribe, the Takelma Indians who originate from Southern Oregon. Agnes is a world renowned spiritual leader and keeper of the Sacred Salmon Ceremony.
Grandma Aggie is a member of the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers that represent a global alliance of prayer, education and healing for our Mother Earth and all her inhabitants. She has become an ambassador for Mother Earth, a voice for the voiceless, and seeks to prevent spiritual blindness by helping us to remember the ways of living that we all share as people of the Earth. Grandma Aggie will share her stories about the Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers and inspire us all to continue our efforts toward healing, activism, and community.
