Storyteller, Poet, Musician, Environmental and Cultural Advocate
Calvin Hecocta was raised by his parents and elders in the Numa tribe near Beatty, Oregon. He learned the ceremonial and spiritual blessing ways from his Grandfathers, Uncles, and others who were true to their traditions. Calvin has taught Native American religion, philosophy, and environmental ethics at Willamette University and Portland Community College. Calvin conducts cultural and environmental workshops dealing with ancient beliefs as well as contemporary issues.
