Iroquois Elder of the Wolf Clan, Tuscarora Nation
Acclaimed author of The Reservation , Ted C. Williams (1930-2005) was an author, singer, sundancer, and respected member of the Iroquois. Born on the Tuscarora Indian Reservation in western New York, Ted’s father was a Sachem chief of the Turtle clan and his mother was a member of the Wolf clan. He graduated from LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls, New York, after which he joined the US Army and was a paratrooper for four years. After his discharge, Ted studied trumpet and modern jazz at the Knapp School of Music. In addition to being an accomplished author, including publishing articles for the Audubon magazine, Ted was also a member of the Long House of the Six Nations and False Face Healing Society .
